Welcome back to another PPO Quick Tip! In this video, one of our PPO consultants walks you through how he uses key metrics to effectively manage his sprint.
At PPO, we follow an agile approach to delivering work — and that means we plan and execute in two-week sprints. Each sprint is made up of work items, and when an item is added to a sprint, it includes an estimated number of hours required to complete it.
Our consultant demonstrates how the key metrics in PPO automatically calculate the total estimated hours for all work items in the sprint — giving him a clear view of his total workload.
He then highlights another useful metric: Estimate to Complete. This metric shows the total number of hours still required to finish the remaining work.
By comparing these two metrics, he can quickly see whether the sprint is on track. For example, if it’s the last day of the sprint and the Estimate to Complete is 11 hours — but there are only 8 working hours left in the day — it’s a clear indicator that some items won’t be completed on time.
These insights make it easy to manage capacity, communicate early about potential delays, and make informed decisions about taking on new work or adjusting priorities.
If you’re running your projects in sprints, try using key metrics in PPO to keep your team focused, balanced, and on track!
