University of Johannesburg and PPO recognised for digital innovation at Intelligent ICT Awards Africa 2025

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has been recognised for excellence in digital innovation, taking home the Intelligent Education Implementation of the Year award at the Intelligent ICT Awards Africa 2025.

Hosted by Lynchpin Media on 8 May at Katy’s Palace Bar, the awards celebrate outstanding technology implementations across the continent, highlighting the organisations and leaders driving impactful change in the ICT landscape.

This marks the second consecutive year that a PPO-enabled implementation has been recognised at the Intelligent ICT Awards, reaffirming our continued commitment to enabling successful project portfolio management practices across industries.

UJ’s award-winning submission focused on its OnePMO initiative, underpinned by the implementation of Project Portfolio Office (PPO). Through this initiative, UJ has created a centralised, integrated environment to manage institutional projects—enhancing visibility, improving governance, and aligning project execution with strategic priorities.

By leveraging PPO, the university has gained real-time insights into its project landscape, strengthened collaboration across teams, and significantly improved its ability to manage demand and resource capacity. These outcomes are helping drive a more agile and mature project management capability across the institution.

“We are incredibly proud to see the University of Johannesburg recognised with this well-deserved award,” says Guy Jelley, CEO and co-founder of Project Portfolio Office (PPO). “Their OnePMO initiative is a shining example of how visionary leadership—supported by the right tools, processes, and people—can drive meaningful transformation. Congratulations to the entire UJ team on this outstanding achievement.”
