Introducing the Planning Gantt: Project- and Resource-Centric Allocation Visibility

The new Planning Gantt provides a standard, visual way to view monthly resource allocation data in a single, easy-to-interpret Gantt view. It displays allocations on one line per project per resource, giving immediate clarity on how work is distributed across the portfolio.

The Planning Gantt introduces two powerful grouping options:

  • Group by Project – A project-centric planning view that summarises resource allocations at project level, making it easy to understand total effort, compare projects, and assess delivery feasibility.

  • Group by Resource – A resource-centric view that shows how each individual is allocated across multiple projects, highlighting workload distribution and allocation imbalances.

The report parameters include a start and end date, enabling teams to focus the Planning Gantt on a specific planning window to make informed resourcing decisions based on business and operational requirements. This supports effective evaluation of new project requests, balancing demand against available capacity, and proactively managing busy periods aligned to the organisational calendar.

While similar insights were previously achievable using the Gantt widget, they required separate summaries by project or resource.

Why this matters?
  • Instantly identify over- and under-allocated resources
  • Balance workloads before allocation issues impact delivery
  • Enable faster, more confident resource and portfolio decisions
